Bungie have released the following ‘ViDoc’ (that’s a trailer with some dev talking heads to you and me) for Destiny, their upcoming Action/Adventure/FPS/MMO due to be released in 2014 for PS3, PS4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One.
There’s a lot of gameplay clips on show and what is shown looks brilliant, though it remains to be seen if this will just feel like Halo multiplayer on a bigger scale. It’s certainly an ambitious project, but if anyone can pull it off, Bungie can. The developers seem really passionate about providing an experience that’s unique to every player, and about creating a vibrant and persistent online world.
Players will have 3 weapon slots to wreak havoc with, a primary slot, for your run of the mill assault rifle et al, you have a special slot for causing lots of damage in a given situation, and finally a heavy slot, for when you absolutely have to kill every last motherfucker in the room.
The video is worth a watch, and though i’m still slightly sceptical on whether the game will come together in a neat way, I have faith that Bungie can do it. The new matchmaking system they’re implementing should help set it apart from other more traditional MMO’s, and their expertise with the FPS genre will help no end.
