The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct is an upcoming first person shooter based on popular AMC show The Walking Dead, due for release on PS3, Xbox 360, WiiU and PC in March. The game focuses on brothers Daryl and Merle Dixon, played by Norman Reedus and Michael Rooker respectively. It takes place as a prequel to the television series and will chronicle the brothers’ exploits leading up to the events of The Walking Dead.
The opening cinematic for the game has leaked to the internet and you can view it below.
They’ve definitely gone for the same vibe as the AMC show and you can see why, The Walking Dead is a massive franchise at the moment and given this game’s seemingly very limited turn around time, it bodes well that it has the popularity to play off. This will likely see it get some decent release week sales. A behind the scenes featurette has also been released.
It looks like Reedus and Rooker have had a lot of fun doing the voice work but I can’t help shake that this is just a low budget cash in, and with the popularity of the Telltale game, also titled The Walking Dead, though based on the comic series, Survival Instinct has a lot to live up to.
The official launch trailer has been released, check it out below.
